InfoWest, Southern Utah’s premier internet service provider, recently organized their fifth annual School is Cool backpack giveaway for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. This year, we had a total of three giveaway locations at our offices and ended up giving away more than 400 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to kids in the community.

Each backpack included an array of school supplies such as folders, pencils, markers, crayons, and were given on a first-come, first-serve basis. InfoWest held this event at our locations in Overton, Richfield, and Cedar locations for the surrounding area.

The InfoWest team also stopped by the Washington County School District offices in St. George, to give some away.

InfoWest is dedicated to not only helping our customers, but also being involved and meeting the needs of our local communities. An estimated 91,433 of Utah children aged 17 or under were living in poverty in 2019, according to the American Community Survey (ACS). With school supplies costing an average of more than $840 per household, some families are stretching every dollar to make sure their child can go to school prepared. 

All the supplies, backpacks and even free snacks were provided by InfoWest to help kids start off school on the right foot.
