Austin K., Internship Experience

This summer InfoWest invited a few interns to experience what working at an Internet Service Provider is like in partnership with Dixie Technical College.
We had the opportunity to talk to Austin K., who was assigned to the St. George office to share his experience in tech support.
“Being an intern at InfoWest was a great way for me to get my foot in the door.” Said Austin, “I enjoyed the work environment, and the individualized attention InfoWest gives to their customers and employees.”
For Austin, the internship let him learn how InfoWest provides its award-winning customer service.
“I wasn’t just doing the internship for work, it was also a great learning opportunity.” Recalled Austin, when asked about why he wanted the internship. “I had great training. Both with support phone calls and in person with customers. I feel InfoWest prepared me well for my next job opportunity.”
Austin said he would recommend an InfoWest internship to anyone looking for a way to enter the Information Technology field.
Travis D., Austin’s direct supervisor said, “Austin was solid. He displayed good workplace skills and professionalism. He showed us quality personality traits that any employer would value. He was always on time, did the work assigned to him, and always had a positive attitude. Austin is driven to learn more and grow. Along with his soft skills in the workplace, he showed great technical ability. He will succeed in the I.T. industry, I look forward to following his career.”

It feels strange that we have a day dedicated to safer Internet when 25 years ago, the Internet was still considered an emerging fad. Times have certainly changed, and the way we use our Internet has changed with it.
What Makes Christmas Extra Special?

What Are You the Most Thankful for?
A short four weeks ago, we celebrated tricks, treats, ghouls, and ghosts. Seemingly the moment the clock strikes midnight, we jump from Halloween to Christmas. People start putting their decorations up, and grocery stores begin playing the Little Drummer Boy and Silent Night. But somewhere in the middle is another great holiday. It’s Thanksgiving! Like any middle child, Thanksgiving is the holiday people tend to forget about.
InfoWest Wins Big!
InfoWest recently participated in its first FCC spectrum auction bidding against some of the nation’s largest mobile carriers and utility companies. InfoWest won licenses in the new CBRS mid-band frequencies for ten Utah counties. InfoWest will use its new spectrum licenses to enhance its service in ten Utah counties.
“We’re excited to be able to start rolling out this new high-speed and high-power wireless service on frequencies we now own throughout Southern Utah.,” said Cassidy Larson, CTO at InfoWest. “This new wireless spectrum is interference-free and will help us overcome challenges we’ve had in the past with obstructions between the roof and tower.”
